Mission Statement

Grasscar is a local lawnmower racing organization, that has created a simple, easy to follow and inexpensive way to race lawnmowers. One only has to look at their single page of rules and you can see why. We regulate RPMs, tire sizes and overall gear ratios. This allows everyone in a given class to be competitive. Those who want to build a stronger engine may have a slight advantage, but the stock engine will still have the built-in durability.

We encourage the whole family to race, with classes for kids, ladies and seniors. Staggered drags have been designed so that the slowest and fastest classes can still be competitive with each other. We're here for competition, fun and camaraderie.

Everybody will race provided that they are not in violation of insurance or safety requirements. If their machine is in any other technical violation, they will run “scratch” and they may not be allowed to score until they are in compliance.

It is the general policy of this group that the purpose is to have fun. Competition is part of that fun, but it will NOT override the concept of having a good time and promoting sportsmanship and camaraderie. Adult behavior and good sportsmanship is expected and those that cannot adhere to those concepts are invited to leave until they can comply.

Grasscar currently has members from the age of 10 years old to the age of 70 years old. Ladies race, too. When participation is great enough they even race in a class of their own.

Grasscar is racing at Victory Christian Center, 11431 Palm Beach Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL, located about ¼ mi West of SR 31 and about 2 mi East of I-75. Racing is normally on the third Sunday of each month with the exception of July and August when we take a break for the summer.
